Another flower card

So my scanner is finally working again.
I made this card a few days ago, using the Fifth Avenue Floral set. I also used the Top Note die. To put the ribbon through, I used the horizontal slot punch. I stamped the extra flower, cut out and used dimensionals to pop it up. I put Dazzling Diamonds glitter in the center of the flower.

A Break from Scrapping

After 5 years of creative fun “Sandy and Julie” have decided to take a managerial break from organizing yearly Crop sessions at the Blackburn Community Centre. For those of you who have not been informed the Blackburn Scrappers Crops will not resume in the Fall of 2009.

We will be sure to keep all of your contact information should we decide to pick up where we left off with our Crops sessions.

Hello everyone, as promised here is the list of the new session dates starting in Sept/08. Our group is totalling 26 members.

All Sunday crops will run 9 to 5 and the Dec14/08 one will be from 9-9. This crop will include a potluck and a secret Santa gift exchange.

The cost this year is only $25.00 (can't get any better than that) but I will not be purchasing prizes as in the past. Think of it this way the cost is $40.00 and I am giving you back $15.00 to go buy yourself something so you only have to give me $25.00. It makes it much simpler for me. Please bring a cheque (made payable to Sandy Richmond) or cash to the first crop as I have to make payment in full in Sept/08. I have got a few payments from people already. Thanks.

As mentioned at the last crop some of our local home based businesses are going to be offering classes. They are Julie with Close to my Heart and Michelle with Stampin-up. They will have a sign-up and pay sheet at one crop for the class to be held at the next one.

Jenn at the Scrap Box with some of her Design Team may also offer classes if they so choose to do. There is no pressure for anyone to offer classes and no pressure for anyone to take the classes. This is just something that we thought we would try this coming year so see what the response will be. It is a nice way to support our local businesses and also to bring the classes right to our door. Let see how it works out. Nothing ventured nothing gained. This will be a learning experience for all of us.

Please note the up-coming dates list on the left hand side of this blog, we will post any changes and or cancelletion. The dates in Jan/09 to May/09 are not confirmed yet as they don't have their calendar started for 2009 but usually there is not a problem. If there are changes I will gave ample notice to all of you.

I would also like everyone to send me their phone# (if you don't think I have yours) as I would like this in case I have to cancel a crop (due to bad weather or some other emergency) and it would be too late to be sending an email out.

Also if you have changed your mind and have decided not to attend next years session please let me know as soon as possible as I do have a waiting list.

Well in signing off it has been another great year at Blackburn. It is the people that make these crops so special. I am looking forward to next year and will like many others be taking a short break (on all sunny days) from scrapbooking and card making for more outdoors activities so I will be fresh and eager to start again in Sept with new ideas and of course new supplies.

Great Find ~ Ribbon Storage Unit

Ok, this is sooo cool and it's too good not to share. I final got a chance to use my gift certificate from Tomorrow's Treasures Scrapbooking. They only had two in the store and now one's at my house.... I don't consider myself a ribbon freak but guess what I do have lots more then I thought.

This little and very portable unit can store so much ribbon it's wonderful. I was one of those people who stored all her ribbon in individual baggies and when the time came to look for one I'd be seating for several minutes pulling each one out of it's sorting spot. With this handy little tote, you can see all your ribbons at a glance, again very cool.

Got to go my 3 year old is helping with the sorting.

We had a small, but very enthusiastic group on Sunday. I think all of us got a lot accomplished. For example, Jan created these beautiful treat bags out of envelopes...they will be used as place settings for a Christmas dinner.

Gail created this outstanding Halloween card with the Happy haunting stamp set from CTMH.

I completed only one layout and a few cards, but I did spend over an hour schlepping to and from Michael's...the first trip to shop, and the second trip to go back and get a bag the cashier forgot to give me!

Man, I can't believe this is the last weekend of summer! Well, technically, Fall doesn't start til the 21st, but Labour Day weekend always feels like the last weekend of summer.

I love this set from CTMH called Friend To Friend. I think these animals are so adorable!
The colours are awesome together! Desert Sand, Cranberry, and Chocolate. I stamped the flowers, cut them out, and added chocolate and bamboo brads.

ACK! Sunday, May 6th is our last get together for 3 whole months! I hope you can make it! I know some of you cannot due to previous scrapping plans. I hope to see the rest of you ladies, though! ScrapFest Ottawa 2007

ScrapFest in Ottawa is being hosted at the Nepean Sportsplex on Friday, May 25th and Saturday, May 26th, 2007.

This event will start off with a ScrapFest Crop Party on Friday night from 5-11pm. This event is sponsored by Scrapbooking Cafe who will supply all the tools you need for your layouts (Sizzix, Cricut, Big Shot, QuicKutz, Pazzles, trimmers and more).

The cost for the Crop Party is $25 and these can be purchased on their website www.canadianscrapbookexpo.ca This includes a "Crop Bag" filled with scrapbooking goodies, awesome prizes, games, layout contests, yummy treats, admission to the ScrapFest marketplace on Saturday, May 26th an appearance by Vicki Boutin, one of Canada's leading scrapbooking experts. See her most recent work on the cover of Making Memories (March 2007) and Canadian Scrapbooker Spring Issue (pg 70).

Saturday, May 26th is the ultimate scrapbooking shopping experience with over 30 stores to shop from. Wristbands for Saturday are $8 in advance and $10 at the door. The Birth of a new Family
Please meet Baby GABRIELLE - daughter of Tania Quevillon

It is with great pleasure, that I am announcing the birth of Gabrielle Quevillon-Cyr, this wonderful little girl was born on Sunday– February 18th, 2007 @ 12:24am. She weighed 7lbs-8-1/2oz (3.570kg). She looks a lot like her Daddy. However, she has her mother's hands/fingers. No doubt she’ll be a future scrapbooker. The family, Dad, Mom and Baby are all doing great.

I meet her for the first time today, Mom is very happy and Dad is a wonderful helper, the three were very calm and bonding, a wonderful thing to see. She hasn’t cry yet…. Perhaps her true CYR character will come out once they are in the privacy of their own home. More stories and news will follow.

Either scan the project or upload a picture of the project to your computer. Then start a new post on the blog. You will see a tool bar above your message space...the last icon is a photo...click on this and it will allow you to add an image from your computer. It's that easy! Once the picture is loaded, press "done" and continue writing in your message space. Once you have finished, you can either "save as draft" or "publish". NOTE: you are still able to edit your posts even after you publish it.
OK, so I'm anxious to see what you ladies can do!

The "Whisks"!

A few of you asked me to share the whisk idea I made at Christmas. This idea could be modified for any theme, really..."Whisking you a sweet Valentine's Day", "Whisking you a SPOOKY Halloween" etc...The tag on this whisk says "We "whisk" you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!"
The whisk is from the dollar store. Place the whisk in a plastic bag (I got mine from SU, but I'm sure you could get them at Dollar Store or Bulk Barn) as this will help keep the chocolates from falling out. Then put the chocolates (or candies) in the whisk. Use a twistie to close the bag. Make your tag (I printed my sentiment on the computer, matted it on red card stock, used a corner punch to decorate the edges and stanped images to decorate the tag). Punch 2 holes in the tag, insert ribbon, and tie around the whisk. Easy, no?

Die Hard Scrappers

This is my youngest daughter's page using once again the SU stamp set Stardust, same embossing technique and bleaching. I'm trying to keep their books similar but at the same time unique to each. This is my very first scrapbook page made at the Blackburn community centre. I started my oldest daughter's scrapbook last year. This pages was made using SU products. The main theme is Suns & Moons. I used the Stardust stamp set with embossing ink and then bleached the centre of the moon, cool effect.

The Twins Turn Two!

How's THAT for an illiteration? My friend, Marilyn's twins are turning 2 this weekend, so I made them each a card. I was able to use those paper doll things that I've had for AGES! I had the cowboy one, but was able to make the other one a cowgirl by making her an outfit like the boy one. I think they turned out so cute!

My last 2 page layout - golf theme

OK - I have managed to get the pictures from my san disk ONTO my computer so I can post the last 2 page layout that I did. Here it is:

I used bazill (cardstock), Karen Foster (golf and plaid paper), DieCuts with a view paper for the mats and the word "tournament" and Karen Foster golf stickers. For the journalling (the golf ball on a tee beside the words "sand trap") I used Microsoft Word and found a clipart of the golf ball and tee, softened the black to grey, added text for journalling, printed it off on vellum, cut around the edge and attached with Xyron.

Note: I am NOT a golfer. This was a work tournament and I was the official photographer.

This is my very first post in a blog. Thanks, Julie for setting this up!

I did a couple of scrapbooking related things this week. I finished a 2-page spread, made a retirement card, shopped at "Cindy's Store" at Suzanne's and was at Endless Memories today.

I will try to post pics of my layout and card.

Well looks like I can only post the card right now. Will try the layouts later.

On the card above, the word Time and the clock was done in Microsoft Word. The number 2 is a stamp, the word retire is a dymo label and Guy was stamped with an alphabet stamp. The black patterned paper is Provo Craft but I can't remember what brand the red patterned paper is.

Julie's first post - Black Pumpkins

Every Halloween I try to create something different, the internet is a great source of information. This idea comes from the greatest crafter of all "Martha Stewart". Based on the 2005 October issue of Martha Stewart Living it showed how to create these wonderful black Pumpkins. You simply spray paint them with acrylic paint, the trick is to keep our Pumpkins inside in a dry and some what warm place, this is to ensure that the exterior skin is not wet or damp. The paint won't sick otherwise.

I sprayed them outside on a sunny autumn day and left them to dry overnight in the garage. The next evening I craved them out using a template from that same magazine. You need to crave them after painting them. That's how you get the orange skin to show up. Tip: the best Pumpkins to use are the smaller baking ones, their skin or meat as I like to call it, is a nice bright orange colour. The bigger ones are usually more white or light orange in colour.

I had lots of great comments, the adults trick or treaters really loved them.

I think this might be fun, most of you already now about blogs especially if you have Teens... It's a great way to share information. This is what I know about blogs, you can post short story, links, share photos. It can also be used as an electronic diary. As a srapper/crafter we often find other use for things. I thought we could use this a our own sort of web-page to share our experiences. I will invite each of you to post to this blog. Gail I will encourage you to post our wonderful card template, Suzane I would love to see you share some of those small books you make. As you can see this is a great tool to share our talents. I was even thinking of getting you to post your pages, cards, books and we could vote on the best one of the month. I would come up with prizes to make it more interesting. I thought we could post a variety of things that would be of interest to this group.
